Christmas cocktail: St Nick’s Nightcap
Bartender Rob Willis creates a festive tipple fit for Father Christmas himself. Slowly sipped by the fireside, St Nick’s Nightcap is the perfect post-prandial for the festive season.
You’ll need: a Japanese mixing glass, a muddler, a bar spoon, a Hawthorn strainer and a rocks glass.
25ml Martell VSOP cognac
25ml Disaronno amaretto
2 brown sugar cubes
3 dashes orange bitters
Garnish: cinnamon stick
– Add the sugar cubes to the mixing glass and soak in the orange bitters
– Muddle the sugar cubes until they have broken down, then add the amaretto and cognac
– Add some cubed ice, then stir. After a few minutes add some more ice and continue to stir until the sugar has dissolved
– Strain into a rocks glass filled with cubed ice and garnish with a cinnamon stick
