Christmas cocktail: Mahogany Manhattan
For his Christmas cocktail, Bartender Sam Claridge puts a twist on a classic Manhattan and swaps the traditional rye whiskey for rum and port.
You’ll need: a Japanese mixing glass, a bar spoon, a Julep strainer and a coupe glass.
Ingredients
37.5ml Plantation XO rum
12.5ml Quinta do Vallado port
12.5ml Martini Rosso vermouth
3 dashes clove-infused orange bitters
Garnish: black cocktail cherry
Method
– Chill the coupe glass with crushed ice
– To the mixing glass, add all of the ingredients with some cubed ice and stir until the liquid is chilled
– Discard the ice in the glass and strain the cocktail
– Garnish with a black cocktail cherry
