Chapter House Mocktail Competition

This month we held our very first bartender competition. The brief was simple – create a brand new mocktail to feature on our next bar menu. Each of our bartenders prepared their take on a mocktail:
Apple Press by Nick Wardell
Apple juice, sugar syrup, lemon, elderflower cordial
Caribbean Delight by Beth Kelly
Strawberries, pineapple, grenadine, lime, soda
Berry Fizz by Emma McNicholas
Blackberries, blueberries, apple juice, cranberry juice, elderflower cordial, vanilla syrup
Lazy Joe by Joe Ashworth
Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, sugar syrup, cranberry juice, lime juice, soda water
Virgin Blueberry Mojito by Kelsie Marshall
Blueberries, mint, sugar syrup, apple juice, soda water
Cookies and Cream by Rachel Nesbit
Cream, milk, chocolate, cookie
Each drink was prepared and then judged by National Bar Training Manager David McLeman, who selected the top three to appear on the next Chapter House menu, which were: Virgin Blueberry Mojito, Berry Fizz and Cookies and Cream. Impressed by the range of products used and the creativity on show, it was a difficult decision for David to pick the overall winner, but Bartender Emma McNicholas triumphed with her Berry Fizz, “this drink had some great flavours – really fresh and fruity” said David, “but, it was the addition of vanilla that won me over – it was a really inspired combination.”
Congratulations to Emma, who was presented with a bottle of Lanson Noble Cuvée Blanc de Blancs champagne by Bar Manager Hayden Fitchett. You’ll be able to see our top three drinks on the menu soon and you can find Emma’s winning recipe here.
