Bramble cocktail recipe
Created in London by Dick Bradsell in the 1980s, the Bramble has become a modern classic. Named after the bush that blackberries grow on, the key ingredient in the cocktail is a finishing drizzle of crème de mûre (blackberry liqueur). Serving over crushed ice is key, so don’t skimp this step – allowing that extra bit of dilution from smaller chips of ice ensure the cocktail isn’t too sweet.
You’ll need: Boston shaker, Hawthorne strainer, rocks glass
Ingredients
40ml Tanqueray gin
25ml lemon juice
10ml sugar syrup
15ml crème de mûre
Garnish: lemon slice, blackberry
Method
– Fill a rocks glass with crushed ice
– Shake the gin, lemon juice and sugar syrup until well combined, strain over the crushed ice
– Drizzle over the crème de mûre
– Garnish with a slice of lemon and a blackberry
